Agricultural Journalist & Communications Specialist

Hello, I'm Loz James. I write about agriculture with first-hand insight from working in the industry myself.

Loz James Agricultural Journalist

I'm an agricultural journalist and communications specialist based on the Essex/Suffolk border, who also manages a 400-acre sheep farm in Perthshire.I reported on rural and agricultural stories for BBC Radio Stoke and BBC Radio Suffolk early in my career, and in between spent 25 years writing for organisations like Royal Bank of Scotland, British Airways and Harrods.

"I’ve known Loz professionally for 15 years and highly recommend him as a feature writer and copywriter. In all the work I’ve commissioned from him, he has delivered excellent copy, to budget and to deadline, with the utmost respect to our clients."Dom Bliss, Editor & Journalist

Why I'm Different

My agricultural journalism is informed by working in the industry as well as reporting on it. As well as being a professional writer, I oversee a sheep business finishing 750 lambs yearly while managing grassland and estate operations.I'm BBC-trained, NCTJ-accredited, and hold an MA in Screenwriting from Edinburgh Napier University. I've also completed SRUC's Agricultural Communications and Journalism course, passing with an A grade.I've produced nearly 100 episodes of a top-20 UK marketing podcast and built a freelance practice serving blue-chip clients across financial services, retail, transport, and professional services. Now I'm bringing that communications expertise to the sector I know best.
